Being the town in which I grew up, Keyport has always held a special place within my heart. Initially the series’ main goal was to capture the streets and settings in which I would visit when driving through town. Over time, the series progressively evolved into something much more. I wanted to show the true essence of the town, capturing the little ordinary things that one would often overlook when visiting. This eventually led me to making portraits of the locals that lived in town, taking me completely out of my comfort zone as a photographer. Through this, I was able to interact with and exchange stories with anyone I would go on to photograph. These interactions made this series much more personal to not only me but the lives of the people that I became a part of. Streets, Stories, Structures truly opened my eyes to the beauty of the mundane, looking past what I thought was important to take photos of and to simply document the reality of our lives.
